Q: How long have you been playing?

A: Been playing Disc Golf since 2003 but played very infrequently and was also a 1 disc wonder.  It wasn't really until I moved out to Alaska a year or so afterwards that I started to play it much more and actually got into very into the sport.  It wasn't until I started to play Westchester that I became intrigued by it.

Q: How did you get into the sport?

A: I got into the sport through some friends who played a little bit as well and I just kind of wanted to give it a shot.  I had heard about it and always thought it was a really cool and unique sport.  I didn't think I was ever going to get any better or learn to do anything new but it all came about after playing more and more rounds.  I think the first round I ever played was at 4 C's... (Cape Cod Community Course) in Massachusetts.  I really enjoyed the course and playing even though I had no control over my disc.  After playing this course, I was certainly into the sport but lived in a town without a course and I think at the time the nearest one was a few towns over.  I kind of put DG on the back burner and continued to pursue other interests and activities.

Q: What's in your bag?

A: Drivers

Champion Boss - Great distance disc for big hyzer bombs
Champion Katana - This is a disc that I really like but am in the transition of having it replace my wraith which I have thrown for years.  This disc certainly goes the distance and I like that but I need to become a little more comfortable with it.
Champion Xcaliber - Another great hyzer disc for shorter hyzer bombs
FLX Surge SS - great tunnel or hallway shot disc.  Used for nice and straight hyzers.  I think it might just be the feel for the FLX plastic and the fact that I have thrown these for a quite a while that I have a tough time taking it out of my bag.
Champion Eagle - must have disc for any straight fairway or gentle hyzer shot.  I love these discs and usually carry 2 in the bag.
Champion beast - tunover shots, S shots, the beast can do a lot of things.
Champion Sidewinder - turnover shots, roller shots.  a great disc that will never leave the bag.
Champion roadrunner - gotta have some understable plastic in the bag and the roadrunner is a great anhyzer disc.  I like to throw
rollers with the roadrunner as well.
champion monarch - another anhyzer disc but one that will get a little more D of the tee.

Mid-range
Meteor - Anything with an anyhzer on it I will throw a Meteor.  Sometimes I will use it as a floater disc.
FLX Drone -  A must have disc for fighting headwind or simply throwing any hyzer shot in the fairway.
FLX Buzzz - I have thrown the buzzz for a long time and can't seem to get it out of my bag.  it is consistently straight and very controllable.  I love the FLX plastic because it gives you that added grip.
Star Gator - This is a disc that I really only throw forehand. I really love the way it feels as a forehand midrange disc and use it solely for this purpose.  This is a great disc that has been in my bag for a while.
Gummy Rhyno - i just put this disc in my bag and will use it for trick shots and other odds and ends.  This is a great overstable putter/midrange disc that is just fun to throw.

Putters
3/4 putters in my bag.  They are all Gateway Warlock putters.  I have two red putters that I use for putts inside the circle, I black one for jump putts or anything outside the circle and then a Super Stupid Soft Warlock as a thrower putter.

Q: What is your go to Disc?

A: Go to disc would probably have to be my Champion Eagles.  This is a disc that I know well and trust no matter what the shot may be.  I have always had an Eagle in the bag and will continue to do so.  This is a great all around disc that can do just about any shot out there.

Q: What is your favorite local course?

A: Favorite local course would have to be a tie between the Moose Pretzel and Kincaid.  The Moose Pretzel is an amazing course that is like none other I have ever been to.  Pure Alaskan wilderness at its very best and there are multiple layouts to how the course can be played.  It offers a variety of shots that you need to have in the bag and challenges you both physically and mentally.  Kincaid is another local favorite simply because it is such an elite course.  I really like the challenge that Kincaid brings to the table.  There is a good variety of holes and you can play from the Am or Pro tees depending upon your preference.  Kincaid continues to put me to work every time I am out there and I think that is why I like it so much.  I love the Goliath basket, the hanging basket and the amazing views and wildlife that you can see while out on the course.

Q: What is your favorite out of state course?

A: Favorite out of state course would probably have to be Brakewell Steel in Warwick, New York.  Warwick offers the ultimate in layout and flexibility with two tees and two baskets on every hole! All the time! Four ways to play each hole. A color designation is used: the silver tees and silver baskets represent the short layout, and the blue tees and blue baskets represent the longest layout. Silver tees to blue baskets and blue tees to silver baskets represent intermediate length layouts. What is creative here is that the alternate layouts aren't just a longer version of the same hole, but rather ofter force different lines.  Warwick is simply an amazing disc golf course with so much to offer.  It is a course that I always try to play if I am back in that area because it is so worth it.  There are some beautiful rock walls, ledges and just some incredible design features that you don't see at your everyday disc golf course.

Q: Do you have any Aces?  How Many? Most Memorable?

A: I have a few aces, 3 to be exact.  I have one at Westchester on the old hole 7 and I have two out at the Moose Pretzel.  While I have hit chains a few times here and there on some holes, nothing has stuck since my last one at the Moose Pretzel.  I had aced hole 18 (red) while playing a round with some friends and it was great because it was my first ace out at the Pretzel.  About a week or so later, I was playing a night round with a friend when I aced the same hole again.  That was probably my most memorable ace because it was a really beautiful night (full moon) so there was plenty of light on the course.  I remember releasing my disc and yelling at it to flip up which it did.  It was amazing to see this blue streak of light just get closer and closer to the basket until it finally crashed the chains.  That was a pretty cool feeling.

Q: How long have you been playing?

A: May of '11 will be my 6th year.

Q: How did you get into the sport?

A: My buddy Zack Kallenger and my younger brother Anthony played a few times at the local course (Schroeder Park) and invited me out. After that first round I thought "that was stupid". So I tried it again.

Q: What's in your bag?

A: Drivers:
Elite Z Cyclone
Champion Beast, Barry Schultz 2-Time World Champ
Champion TeeBird, Ken Klimo 11-Time World Champ
Champion Sidewinder
Champion TeeBird, Ken Klimo 12-Time World Champ
Champion Edition Leopard
Star Vulcan
Mids:
ESP Buzzz FLX
Elite Z MRV 1.5
Elite X MRV 1.0
ESP Impact
Elite Z Breeze
Putters:
Elite X Soft APX 172 Yellow
Elite X Soft APX 168 White

Q: What is your go to Disc?

A: Pff! You already know. Buzzzy Buzzz.

Q: What is your favorite local course?

A: Peter's Creek without a doubt. Kincaid is amazing too coming in at a close second.

Q: What is your favorite out of state course?

A: I went to Am Worlds in 2010. Gordon Holton Memorial in Deleware, Ohio was one of the courses. I shot my highest rated round to date on that course. I shot a respectable 950 rated round. I'll take that. It was the only course we played twice. The signature hole is a 360 foot shot over water. 240 feet got you back on land but there was a 50 foot tall fatty tree that would come into play if you got too greedy.

Q: Do you have any Aces?  How Many? Most Memorable?

A: Volunteer hours have definitely paid off. I have 8. #5 at Schroeder, #4 at Schroeder, #6 at old Westchester Lagoon, #1 at old WCL, #5 at old WCL, #9 at Peter's Creek, #3 at old WCL, and #8 at old WCL. My first was probably the most memorable. I had banged the chains so many times and that one stuck. I followed that by scoring a 6 on 6. Weak. But the one before... COUNT IT!

Christine Schaefer

Q: How long have you been playing?

A: I’ve taken 6 months off after shoulder surgery but played about 14 months before that.

A: JLS, Tee Bird, Glide, FLX Buzz, Comet, Voodoo, Ion

Q: What is your go to Disc?

A: Comet or Buzz.

Q: What is your favorite local course?

A: Kincaid.  It’s a tough course for me but I love the views.

Q: What is your favorite out of state course?

A: I haven’t had the opportunity to play in the Lower 48 yet.  Hopefully this fall.

Q: Do you have any Aces?  How Many? Most Memorable?

A: HA, no aces.

Chris Goodrich

Q: How long have you been playing?

A: I hit 5 years this June.

Q: How did you get into the sport?

A: A co-worker in Evansville, IN had asked me repeatedly to go out with him.  I had declined numerous times and made fun of the sport behind his back.  The one day we took the residents we worked out for their evening Rec.  I was given a Champion Orc to throw.  I made one long putt that night.  The next morning I went to Dick's Sporting Goods and bought my first two discs.

Q: What's in your bag?

A: Drivers
ESP Nuke 174g - Orange (I have two I rotate)
Z Force 173 - Clear with DD Dye
Z Surge 174 - Blue
Z Flick 171 - Blue with Huk Lab Dye
Z Stalker 174 - Blue
Z Wildcat 173 - Red
Z Talon 172 - Orange
Z Talon 173 - Red

A: Mids
FLX Drone 175 - 2008 World's
Z Buzzz 178 - White with DD Dye
FLX Buzzz 175 - Yellow
Z Comet 175 - Yellow

A: Putters
Soft X Challenger 174 - Black (X2)
FLX Challenger 174 - Black
Soft Magnet 176 - Black
Soft Magnet 176 - White

A: Alternates:
Z Nuke 173 - Purple Huk Lab - for courses where I still need distance but there are more obstacles.  I don't want to beat my ESP Nuke too much.
I rotate two more talons through my bag depending on how beat I want for that day (wind conditions play a role)
Z XS 173 - A good long anhyzer disc
ESP Force 173 - pink - with a little bit of break in it doesn't have the extreme stability my Z Force does.
Z Buzzz SS - trying these out- but the FLX Buzzz seems to do the job better so far.

ESP XL 173 - orange - testing out to see if I want it for my fairway throws.  Could replace the ultra hard to find Z Wildcat in the line up.

Q: What is your go to Disc?

A: Depends on the conditions.  On a super windy day my FLX Drone is my security blanket. But I think my overall most used disc would be my FLX Buzzz.  It is my trouble disc, my tunnel disc, and my turnover mid all rolled into one.  That combined with it's ability to glide a long way makes it one of the most reliable discs I have ever owned (and it has three aces).

Q: What is your favorite local course?

A: My only true local course is the Kenai Eagle DGC.  It has been my home course since I moved here in '07.  The Eagle is where I learned (am learning) to throw with control.  It will never be mistaken for a champion caliber course, but it has been a great course for learning.

Q: What is your favorite out of state course?

A: Flip City in Shelby, MI.  I've played a lot of great courses in the midwest.  But Bill McKenzie's course tops them all.  If there is disc golf in heaven it will closely resemble Flip.

Q: Do you have any Aces?  How Many? Most Memorable?

A: Yes, I have 12.  My most memorable is still my first.  I had been hitting baskets and chains every day for a couple of weeks before I finally got a KC Pro Roc to stick.  That one's on my wall.
